Knowing How to Paint Bi-fold Doors

Folding doors typically take up a lot of wall space. Thus, adding a fresh coat of paint on them will instantly brighten up a room. This process will also allow these openings to complement other decorative elements in a given space.

Before you start, gather all the necessary supplies, which include a cloth painting tarp, mild soap and water, clean rags, a screwdriver, primer, semi or high-gloss paint, some brushes, and a mini paint roller. Next, you need to prepare the door pieces. To do this, remove each one from the track and remove all closet knobs with the screwdriver. Wash thoroughly with soap and water to remove dirt.

The next step would be to fold the door in half and lay the top edge against the frame. If you have placed the tarp over the carpet, install the side peg securely. With the paint ready, roll some onto the exposed edges of the doors. Apply each coat thinly to avoid drips that might later cause the pieces to stick together. Check paint manufacturer’s instructions for the right drying time.
