Removing Sliding Glass Shower Doors

If you want a quick makeover for your bathroom, consider replacing the existing glass doors in this area. Removing the ones you have takes some effort but you will be able to manage with the right skills and tools. To remove your current door installation, you can usually lift them up and off the overhead tracks, and then carry them out. If you need to deal with a more complicated mechanism, start by taking the top rail for the shower doors. In order to do this, take a hammer and hit upward at one end. This will loosen the rail so you can remove the entire piece. Next, remove all the screws in the side or bottom pieces of the frame. A lot of sliding glass door frames will have caulking to help keep out the moisture. Use a utility knife to remove these from around the edges of the casing. Proceed by slicing a line underneath. Then, pry away at the side pieces and the bottom with a crowbar. Continue working on leftover caulking along the tracks with a utility knife. Finally, clean it away with the scrubber side of a sponge.
